Melt & Pour coin soap

Thracian Tomb of Sveshtari, Bulgaria

First story belongs to my bulgarian roots. Inspired by celestial events that could illuminate prosperity, fertility and will power. There was conjoining of Sun and New Moon in Aries on April 15th. Striken by the lighting of Uranus, this celestial event ignited long therm changes, cracking new space doors opened. During this New Moon Sunday midnight i created Melt & Pour soaps.

Spring washing rituals honor our emotions, helping us gently to shed our skin, while moving through the transition time gracefully. Shifting from sleepy inner dream world towards the light, is perfect time to plant seeds with future intentions. I decided to start this cleansing period with making soap. Structured from two layers of M&P mixture to which are added shea butter, coin, some smudging lemongrass, holy myrrh and frankincense essential oils with sprinkle of fertile poppy seeds, for growing fortunate spring sprouts. In Bulgaria, coins have played major roles in superstitious rituals.

Ornamenting the bridle veil and throwing coins in water are existing monetary traditions. Good fortune, prosperity and protection against evil spirits are some of the main symbolic meanings of these coin rituals. To honor this potent spring time i wanted to create ritual soaps. Melt & Pour soaps are easy to make at home. Ready clear soap substance is easy to purchase, heat and get creative with color, aroma and texture additives. Here is all about Melt & Pour soap technique.

I selected enhancing symbols from my coin collection with plant, goddess and other pleasant depictions. Their auspicious meaning is generally connected to luck, protection, fertility and power. I remember being a child and helping my grandma with Christmas dinner preparation. She would give me big nice coin, which she first boiled to disinfect. I would take this coin and stick it inside big bread dough, which was then baked. Centerpiece of our Christmas table, this bread was then cut into pieces by the eldest person and each family member was given one piece, plus one for the house. If family member was away, a piece will be set aside for this missing person. The one who found  the coin, was believed to receive good fortune through the upcoming year. More about Bulgarian apotropaic magic and traditions can be red from this wonderful source The Circle of Life.

Spring is perfect time to wash toxins and nurture our sprouting intentions. Melt & Pour soap making takes about hour and is ready to use instantly.
