Sacred synergy elixir

While the leafs are falling down, let me wrap you in my dried flower knitted blanket, filled with memories from the sunshine laughs we once shared and all the aromas singing away, all the daily worries will be gone with the sunrise glory.

To write a blog takes hours, but to collect flowers, diffuse oils and create creams or elixirs (a substance, usually a liquid, with a magical power to cure, improve, or preserve something: youth), could take months. Regardless of the short shelf life of self-made natural cosmetics, I feel that the benefits from the process and the results are in long perspective, worth it. For the sake of creating something for yourself, with your own resources collected from gardens or purchased through local markets, there is feeling of sympathy, uniqueness, a momentum of planetary alignment sparkling the fire in your kitchen, boiling earthly aroma delights to lift your skin vibrations.

My grandmother's garden Rose

Rose tincture for happy face

Last august I collected the usual rose batch from my grandma's garden. Rosa Damascena has special place in my heart and I like to use it for its great beneficial factors and exquisite aromas. I wrote much about the Rose properties and how to diffuse rose oil in my previous blog. In this blog I would like to combine my knowledge of planetary influences with my interest in herbs and their use in daily healing practices. This topic of well-being is of interest and have intriguing connection to season changes and all other elements in life that carry special cyclic powers. In order to use those powers, one has to understand Nature's cycles, their properties and effects on our living organisms. Because Roses are one of the most treasured healing remedies, I would like to share first, the Rose Face Cream recipe we tested in our recent Cream Bar Circle.

Letting the rose petals to dry naturally

Rose is the beloved heart of the Eden's garden and the symbol of Venus

Last summer I ordered wonderful book with homemade products for skin, health and home. I prefer books than internet pages, because of the possibility to mark the pages. There is much to be examined from this book, so I will not give any review yet, but the cream we created feel nice on the skin. We appreciated the simplicity of all recipes with tips. There is nicely made table for preservatives, well written introduction on oil infusion and also about flower properties. In the last pages this book includes non-toxic solutions for your home, all natural pet care and healing herbal throat syrups. This is the kind of a book that probably your grandma owned.

To create this Rose cream, one needs couple of hours all together for preparation and cooling time. The cream has to remain open over night before stored in fridge. If no preservatives are used, this cream could last maximum a month. Check after two weeks refrigerating that every time you apply it, if there is any mold growing inside the jar. Mold can be easily spotted and it occurs, because of the condensation. Any moisturizing cream with water ingredient is prone to molding. Adding preserving substances will postpone the aging of your cream.

The cream texture turned out deliciously rosy in color and creamy in texture. We decided to add some essential rose oil drops in the end, skipping the coloring alkanet root powder. Mixing fast well and using dark glass jars, is one of the tricks for successful end result.

Because of their thorns, roses are considered also as a symbol of duality, the male and female factor. Rose is the perfect mandala, the Venuses sacred geometrical line, the rose virginity flower is guarded by the male thorns. Wo+man is the combination of both masculine and feminine - the sublime perfection. One can read more about the Rose symbolism from the many mystical books written through the ages in all languages, the sufis, Carl Jung, just to name a few, has written pages in the name of the Rose. For me personally the Rose connects me with my Bulgarian home, where the roses dufted sweet aromas almost whole year around. I recently purchased restoring rose oil eye serum from this local label and their product has kept my vision positively focused. Their miraculous serum slows down the aging process and boosts collagen production. Not to mention that it uplifts my mood every morning. Because of its truly magical effect, I decided to do some research on similar elixirs, which are specially created to enhance your mood, physical appearance and use only plants. During my research I came across sources which combines plant remedy creation practices with the planetary powers. This became great source of interest to dive deeper into and to put into practice. There is much of information to be considered, which means that this is an amateur perspective on the subject.

cosmetic
/kɒzˈmɛtɪk/
noun
plural noun: cosmetics
  1. a preparation applied to the body, especially the face, to improve its appearance.

"the range covers everything from the latest cosmetics to skin and hair care"

synonyms:make-up, beauty products, beauty aids; More
Origin
early 17th century (as a noun denoting the art of beautifying the body): from French cosmétique, from Greek kosmētikos, from kosmein ‘arrange or adorn’, from kosmos ‘order or adornment’.

Cosmetic origins

I believe all matter and non matter originates from the eternal Cosmos which surrounds us. As above,  so below we can look deeper inside to understand what lays outside. Our skin is like the star map wrapped around our soul-matter. I have been interested in astrology since early age and studying intensivly from the beginning of this year with Austin Coppock "Fundamental's class". Last winter I received telescope from my baby luv, an begun more detailed celestial gazing. Observing the stars and the planetary cycles, has given me broader perspective on natural events that effect the matter we are surrounded with.

Water, air, fire and earth... or as the Chinese add some wood and metal to it and as the alchemists describing it with Mercury (mind), Sulphur (spirit), Salt (base matter) are creating our Universe or the tria prima (three primes). The father of toxicology Paracelsius said once "The art of healing comes from nature, not from the physician. Therefore the physician must start from nature, with an open mind.".

To study and understand the relationship between all (kingdom of stones, plants, mushrooms, humans etc.) and the surrounding cosmos, takes life time. The more I dive into this science, the more I understand how little I know, but somehow how naturally aware was I when little. As children, we are born with stronger connection with nature which later slowly degrades through the challenges of the city life. Our modern society exists in growing city lights, but we are much less aware of whats happening above... far in the distant dark skies.

Food for clear thoughts

Knowing the major planets that surround us and understanding how they effect the earth and us, is of great help. Since humans exists on earth, they have looked towards the stars and connected with them. Whether one treats astrology as a myth, charlatanism or hobby, the Moon will continue to pull and push the waters in our bodies. Humans are made of water, oxygen, carbon, nitrogen, potassium, chlorine, magnesium etc. This elements create also the rest of the Materia (matter) surrounding us. So does this elements create all the existing Materia (mother) of our neighbor planets. We are born from this elements and related to all elements in our Universe. All this surrounding Matter effects our Matter.

Since humans have documented at first the star and after that the planetary cycles, they have also noticed that plants have their effect on humans depending on these cycles. And I am not talking only about the main celestial bodies of the Sun and the Moon, but the close planets Mercury, Mars, Venus and Saturn. From the chart above, one can see explanation of the relation of the seven major planets surrounding the Earth and their corresponding glands, herbs, symbols etc.

To understand how plants correspond to planetary bodies, we have to have some knowledge on both, or the right kind of hermetic literature, which today is easily found also on the internet. Of course the resource should be reliable with experience on alchemy. I am personally a beginner in this field, but could share some of my resources.

"How to Pick a Plant

For those not wishing to create all seven of the Ens at once, the following may be taken into consideration when picking a plant for your first time.

You may pick a plant based upon its planetary sign, such as one for a quality that you are deficient in.

A Moon ens will open up the psychic world, that of Yetzirah, and Yesod in particular. It may also be used with Pathworkings involving the Moon, the 32nd, 30th, 28th, and 25th.

An Ens of Lady’s Mantel (Alchemia) will open up Netzach-Venus, and give information regarding plant alchemy, hence its official name - Alchemia.

An ens of the Sun will assist in awakening intuition, self-mastery, and the sphere of Tiphareth in Yetzirah. It may even give glimpses of the Briactic World (the World of Archetypes/Higher Mind). It may also be used in Pathworkings involving the Sun.

An ens of Saturn, particularly Horsetail, may be used in the 32nd Path, opening of Briah-Saturn in Yetzirah, and may even give glimpses of the Briactic World and Eternity itself."

Creating tinctures and practical magic compounds for healing, was commonly used through the ages. As we know plants have also memory, just like the animals do. For the most part we can see how the plants feel at the present moment, if they lack sun and water for example, or have molded. But some plants like the perennials embody their past into the present. They can show preserved marks from dryer year for example. These kind of aggressive perennial plants are good for magic work. Because they spread fast and have roots that can be used for their ability to travel Underground. Perennials start to come back to life after the Winter Solstice and have strong connection to the Moon. One can learn great deal about these kind of plants and their use from this amazing book The Witching Herbs: 13 Essential Plants and Herbs for Your Magical Garden.

Back to the tincture making, I would like to introduce you to the Picatrix book, which deals with planetary magic. This is the bible of zodiacal magic. For those inexperienced with such knowledge in practice, I would recommend simpler books such as The Green Witch, which is complete guide to practical making of essential oils and other ointments. There are many reasons why one should be interested in creating elixirs. To begin with, one could use the planetary positions accordingly, which give on certain moments powerful expressions such as harmony, abundance, prosperity, love, clarity, just to name a few. This anointing oils hold great potency when applied. Having in store such oils can come in handy, when in need to align with the "source". The materials used itself for the preparation of oil, candle or soap for example, are usually made from simple ingredients. To prepare the oils requires of course some knowledge and research is needed. Marking the upcoming planetary or star alignment and preparation for this "perfect moment" is of great importance. The rest is just mixing, pouring and storing.

We live in modern days, where one can order such "magic potions", or ready made elixir oils etc. from online shops. I know there are plenty of labels nowadays that offer from sacred candles to  holly incenses. But to create your own, is of course taking the creation to whole other level. You can become the master of your own magic oil. I don't advise anyone who reads on this topic for first time and has no knowledge and experience on esoteric study and practice to start without the needed preparation. This might take years, but it is worth to be cautious in the making of oils and acknowledging their power.

Become the Magician of your own life.
Working with the power of
ritual, plants, planets and the stars.

My sacred rose elixir

Working with the planetary powers can exert powerful influence on your holistic body and your consciousness. We live in days, when many people have deficits on natural strength, they suffer neuroses, hormonal imbalances and other ailments, which are often connected to stress, not suitable nourishing diet and of course over stimulation. For those who live their life with awareness and care, to use this planetary elixir methods would be easier. It is a matter of understanding, time and commitment as anything else which leads to success. To begin with this path as a newbie I would suggest to start with the Moon cycles. The Moon cycles are the fastest occurring planetary cycles and effect our system tremendously. The Moon is considered to have ruled human rituals and our decisions since we were born from our Mother's waters. Some seven months ago I created the art for "My Rhythm" booklet together with the evergreen life couch mama Clara D. Hahn

For now I will not go further on the subject, I feel this is enough food for thought. In my astrology blog I do share all about my experiences on astral matters. As for the cosmetic blog, I rather keep it more practical and "down to Earth". I hope you have enjoyed my page and if it was of any help, I would appreciate greatly shared thoughts and experiences. Thank you.

Next Creambar Circle will introduce special guest who will share with, how to grow crystals at home.
